We inspired a group of girl students to create an Android app
The Tech Quiero Career Fair made its debut in 2019, with an attendance of nearly 200 people. It featured professional women who gave talks to inspire, as well as organizations dedicated to helping girls and women venture into innovation and technology.
Professor Xochitl Arroyo attended an event of this kind for the first time. She teaches at a secondary school in CECyTE, Jalisco, and her participation stemmed from curiosity to find tools that could assist her students.
What she discovered at this Career Fair was great support from the Tech Quiero team, and she also learned about the Technovation initiative. Through Technovation, she found that her students could participate by creating an innovation project that encourages them to delve into this field and motivates them to pursue a career related to ICT.
A group of students, students of Professor Xochitl, enrolled to participate in Technovation 2019 with a Virtual Library project.
Virtual Library is a mobile application, initially designed only for Android devices. It would become a network of libraries among secondary schools, allowing students to exchange books. Despite having no prior knowledge of programming or app development, they received support from the Technovation team.
Additionally, Tech Quiero provided mentorship to these students in Front-End development, led by Joel Humberto Gómez, and in UX Design with the participation of Rosa Contreras.
This team competed with their project in the state phase of Technovation and received very positive feedback on their approach and work. Unfortunately, due to the economic situation of the school and the participants, they were unable to advance to the national phase.
Professor Xochitl and this group of bright students continue to pursue the realization of this project, as well as exploring other technology-related activities. Tech Quiero remains in contact with them for future projects or guidance.
